The Next for Humanity manifesto

Progress should make us more human.

Not smaller. Not more passive. Not more perfectly optimized for systems we did not choose.

01 / 06
01

Technology is not destiny.

Every system carries choices about who gets agency, who captures value, and what counts as success. “The technology made us do it” is a way of hiding those choices after they have already been made.

02

Intelligence should expand agency.

The best use of AI is not to remove people from their own lives. It is to remove the friction, scarcity, and coordination burden that keeps them from doing what only people can do.

03

Capability is not character.

A more powerful system is not automatically a wiser one. We care about boundaries, consent, legibility, and the human responsibility that remains when the demonstration ends.

04

Abundance must reach the edges.

Progress matters when a small team can build what once required an institution; when expertise reaches someone excluded from it; when time returns to the people whose attention has been treated as free.

05

The physical world still counts.

Factories, energy, medicine, housing, security, and care do not disappear into software. The future has to survive contact with matter, institutions, and real human need.

06

The future remains ours to choose.

We reject both easy utopia and fashionable despair. The honest position is more demanding: our tools are becoming extraordinarily capable, and the responsibility to direct them is still ours.

Help build what comes next.

Follow the ideas, tools, and people putting progress back in service of human life.
